Well guys I am still coming back down to earth. What a wonderful venue for this gig. Being totally selfish of course the place is tiny. Probably can only hold around 100-150 people so the whole thing is so intimate. Carl was only about a metre and a half away from where we were sitting the whole show. It was Carl heaven.

Carl was just so funny, really Idol did not do him justice, he can be so funny had the audience in the palm of his hand. No it was not just us girls there were guys there as well. Added bonus John Foreman was in the audience and came up on stage and played a couple of numbers with Carl.

Had pictures just need to work out how to upload them.

Best of all have finally converted hubby now, he was very impressed with Carl. He is unique.
Near the end of the show, he got a couple of girls up on stage and they were dancing away it was marvelous, wish I had tickets for tonight and tomorrow now.

oh floss!!!!!! Isnt he just amazing!!! He has a natural talent for entertaining I reckon...he is just himself and thats what people love about him!!! Like you said, he had the whole audience laughing in Adelaide as well and we just didnt want to let him off the stage at the end!!!! Oh how awesome it would have been to see John Foreman up on stage with him!!!!! did you get any pics of that at all? I think all the Idol staff saw something in Carl and they all helped him get to where he is today and he's definitely not letting them down!!!!

floss...Kris has posted very helpful info on how to upload photos on this thread..just scroll down a bit to read them...

Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed the show at Bennetts Lane on Saturday night. Great venue....very cosy atmosphere...and what a great band! We were treated to a range of songs from the new album....plus some 'newies' like Moon River and Tenderly (my favourite). If you haven't seen the show yet, try to get tickets for Sunday night (if they haven't sold out already)...you won't regret it!

I was going to say how could you not know 'Tenderly', ambercat, but I think I must be from an older generation (LOL). Nat King Cole (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvSbCmXKvBc) and Pat Boone (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h-h-n2g3a4) both sang this but I think Carl did it sooo much better...I was won over (yet again) by his unique and beautiful voice!

Oh I was there at Capers, but I was seated near these rowdy people who were talking, laughing and moving about during his songs. That ruined my enjoyment somewhat of an otherwise fantastic show by Carl. I would have had the most fantastic view of him performing, otherwise. He sounded wonderful, looked wonderful, his band are superb.

I wish I had known you were going to be there Amby. I didn't know anyone.

Oh Yvonne!! bananasad Mum and me were thinkiing about going to the Capers show when we were planning the trip early on but then decided we would go to Bennetts Lane as it was so close to our hotel... But then after that show, we just wanted more so off we went!!! I wished afterwards that I had put your mobile number in my phone when you sent it to me a few months ago cos I could have rung you up and we could have organised something!!! Plus that and the fact that I didnt know what you looked like... but really, I wouldnt have been much company as half way through the show I started to feel soooo sick and we actually had to go home straight after the show..we didnt even stop to say goodbye to Carl thats how bad I felt....I think I must have eaten something that had gone off during the day... Had a lousy night after that...no more information needed I dont think!! Sad

But hey, I agree with you so much about the crowd that night... There were a really noisy bunch on a couple of the tables...so rude talking all the way through Carls songs and even when he was talking to the crowd they acted like he wasn't even there and just carried on with their conversations!!! Shocked We were so angry!!! angry blackcloud Carl was so professional though...he carried on and gave the rest of the crowd a fantastic show... yup I loved it when he got the birthday people up and ended up dancing with the guy!!! giggle I just wish I hadnt got sick as I so wanted to say goodbye to Carl and try to find you guys but hey, it was just as well I left early... pale We didnt take many pics or vids that night as mums camcorder battery died and we werent in the best spot to take pics... It just wasnt our night.... Neutral But we got a few which I'm going to post in the gallery and the photos section...

Did you get to take any pics Yvonne or meet Carl afterwards?

Hello all! Kath is online in the lounge on the laptop so I thought I'd sneak in here and have a long overdue look at everything that's been going on since I last had time to sit and have a proper read! I see that Kath hasn't put the flugelhorn video on here yet, although I only managed to record half of it as I was just sitting watching him in awe and loving every second and I kept on forgetting to press the record button! Kathy was constantly nudging me throughout the show reminding me!

Carl was superb, he really was. Lots of banter with the audience and it looked as though he and his band were having a ball on stage! One song which stood out for me was "My Funny Valentine". Carl sang it so beautifully and tenderly and you could have heard a pin drop in the venue. I do hope that one is on his next album. We had Carl's girlfriend and I think his father was sitting at the table next to us and plenty of his friends. And we had the pleasure of singing happy birthday to his dad! All in all, it was a truly marvellous night and one that will be up there with my favourite shows ever....and that includes his show at The Gov! I know that if any of you have shows coming up, that you will not be disappointed - Carl is just wonderful! cloud9

Oh and another thing Carl talked about a bit was his next album. He said it's going to be a more intimate and personal album with just himself and a small band... maybe another horn, guitar, bass, piano and drums. Not a big band album this time. Which is just fine with me as this will mean his gorgeous voice won't get drowned out by background music...not that I didn't like the big band on his last album... I loved it, but this next album will focus more on Carl I think rather than the big band sound....

VIC gigs Empty The Myer Christmas Parade(Melb) saw Carl up close- fantastic

Post by Yvonne Sat 15 Nov 2008, 2:38 pm

I have just been at the Myer Melbourne Christmas Parade in the Bourke Street, Mall in Melbourne along with many other thousands of people. At first I didn't have such a great vantage point, but I was close to where the Channel 7 set up was with Jennifer Keyte, Sonya Kruger and Peter Mitchell- except they were on the other side of the Mall, I was opposite actually.

The good thing is as time went on, I was able to move up further and when I could hear Carl coming along, I found I could move even closer and by the time the Salvation Army float that Carl was on, was up near I was, I had a great view of him and he waved to us all and looked really great as per usual.

Anyway here in Melbourne, but I don't know where else, it is on tv tonight on Channel 7 at 6.30pm. Carl comes on, not too long after the Wiggles float with Dorothy/Captain Feathersword etc- I would say about an hour and a half approx into the parade.

Check your tv guides anyway, hopefully it will be on for you all to see. I hope they show Carl, fingers crossed, but it is only listed for being on for an hour and they will no doubt have heaps of Myer ads (haha) infiltrating the program.

Ricki Lee sang at the very end.

I can tell you who else was in the Parade, some of the Melb Storm guys, some from the Hawks AFL premiership side, other retired AFL players such as David Neitz, Adam Ramanauskas and Robert Harvey ( I know these names don't mean much to those who don't follow AFL). I have to say though that I thought this lady at the parade was incredibly rude in saying that AFL players did not belong in the Christmas Parade- well to that I say yes they do, because AFL plays a huge part of our lives to many many fans here in Melbourne ( I can say that cos I am one of them), she doesn't have to like it or follow it, but please be respectful and just keep your mouth shut if you cannot say something nice. Didn't matter to me that those guys don't play for my team, I will still applaud them.

Andrew Gaze was also there in the parade, some other Olympians, also Leisel Jones (she is living in Melbourne now)- I saw her shopping in Highpoint the other day.

Miles from Home and Away was there too. I may have missed some because I couldn't see everything that was going on, but thankgoodness I saw Carl. You usually can see much more on tv, my goodness they had better be showing Carl performing.

Daryl Braithwaite also sang, but I didn't see him, only heard him.

I only found out from Thursdays paper about Carl being on, but I cannot use the internet on Thurs and Fri at the moment where I am, so I couldn't tell you.

Hopefully other members may talk about it on Carl's myspace or on the other forums, I was talking about it on the Idol site, in Carl's thread.

Don't forget to get the Salvos cd. Gotta hear more of Carl.

Hi guys, well guess who I literally bumped into today at the Myer Xmas Parade. I had to organise the Victorian State Youth Brass Band, and had gone to park the car in a parking building. On walking back to where the band were waiting to march near the Princess Theatre and I walked straight into Carl, there were lots of people so I was trying to avoid and in my hurry to get back was weaving my way thru and I look up he he was standing right i front of me said hello to him and he politely replied but am sure he just did not have a clue who I was - it was exciting.

Thanks for giving us an update Amanda hug I was hoping you'd find an internet cafe! Can't wait to see the set list and pictures. My heart's beating faster just thinking of the wonderful time you've had and are having again tonight! And ooohh wow Carl kissed you right in front of his girlfriend! naughty Can't wait to hear more about that!

I'd love to see Carl astride a motorbike. I've been hanging out for that since the rumour that Honda had signed him up for their motorcycle ads. But hey if Yamaha just want to give him trumpets and instruments I'm not complaining. That's great news snoopy

VIC gigs Empty Re: VIC gigs

Post by amanda-renee Sun 21 Dec 2008, 3:43 pm

hey guys.

ok so me, mum, jodes and kellie caught a taxi at 6.00pm and got there by 6.10pm but the doors didn't open until 6.30pm so we went down to the pub for a drink. anyway the guy working the bar had this really nice accent which i mistook for irish but he was actually scotish and jodie was banished from the carl concert as she said she could sit and listen to the bar guy talk all night. haha giggle

anyway 6.30pm we wandered up to capers, we got seated and had our dinner although me and mum were on one side of the room and jodes and kel were on the other clearly the seating arrangements didn't suit us but we dealt with it. VIC gigs 61966

then kathy and julie ( ambercat and ambercats mum) rocked up at about 7.30pm and they got the table next to us so jodes decided to ask the waitress girl if they could move so they could sit with us so they reorganised the seats and we were all together. VIC gigs 61966

8.45pm showtime they started with the usual theme song and the set list was very similar to bennetts but with a few changes due to someone's almighty decible breaking scream ( guess who that was) anyway the first set was amazing and i was in absolute heaven i recieved that much eye contact and i was a goner putty in he's hands. lovestruck

once again Carl thanked he's street team for coming waahoo for us, and he continued on through he's first set. at the end of the set he done the ok we are just going for a 5min break for 10 min and we will be back in 15mins joke Rolling Eyes

back for the second set and he thanked everyone for staying haha, anyway this is when it all started turning amazing during he's version of herb alberts rise he done the 70's dancing gag again and he said about how down in bennetts he had some drunk girl come up flinging her ass around etc VIC gigs 965202 and jodes yells out amanda was that you? and i said no and he said no it wasn't amanda hehe but i was so embarressed anyway, then got people up to dance with him and who should he get up to dance none other then our own ambercat (kathy) they were doing the bus stop type dance etc it was hellarious.

then when he sang it's begining to look a lot like christmas i gave julie a christmas hat to throw up on the stage for him saying who's you santa he laughed for a min and put it on and then decided it would suit he's guitarist better as he still had the mow and beard from movember.

after that he asked if anyone was having a birthday and we all yelled out in sycronsisation you are tomorrow and we started singing VIC gigs 190203 and he's like well actually it's tomorrow and we said we know that what we said and he's like how do you all know that? and we were like der!!!!!

then came the part where he couldn't decide what to sing so he had a vote between fly me to the moon and it had to be you ( i have been part of this vote 3 times now and have always missed out on hearing it had to be you so this time i was determined to hear it) so he said fly me to the moon which got a roaring responce and then he said it had to be you so i brought out the lion in me and gave out an almighty scream AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH Embarassed anyway he went man that definately cracked the decibel level so my lone voice bet out the majority VIC gigs 343473 anyway so he started singing it whilst i hid under the table embarressed by my vocal ability to scream.

being the nice guy he is though after it had to be you he also sang fly me to the mood so my lone voice got an extra song out of him there.

then he started singing and he said were's that screaming girl come and have a dance to which i got up and danced but my legs were absolutely jelly like anyway he kept talking to me saying baby stop being so nervous it 's me and i was like i'm gunna be sick and he's like don't be silly and was laughing anyway he said alright i'm gonna spin you and i was like which way der and he spun me twice then i spun him anyway i was so so so giddy, carlstruck, nervous, butterfly filled i have never ever been that full of adrenlin in my life and it was the best felling in the world. VIC gigs 870165

anyway after that moment i honestly can't remember to many of the songs as i was so high it took a while to come down and breathe normally again.

but i remember that's all was suposed to be the last song but then he came back out and done an encore with that's all slow version, lido shuffle, and something else i'll get back to you if i remember.

then when it was all over we waited as we do and went up jodes and kellie was chatting to Carl for quite a while i'll let her tell you what about, mum chatted for a bit and then me well i was on the phone to wendy and i passed the phone to carl and said wendy has something she would like to say to you and all i heard him say was wendy stop crying or don't cry or something like that ( Carl talked on my phone ahhhh) anyway then after they hung up i gave Carl angeo's present and he was like oh tell her thankyou but she didn't have to do that, then i gave him my present and he was like look at all these gifts you guys shouldn't have and gave me a big hug and kiss. anyway he said he should probly get through all the others but he told us to sit down and he will chat to us later when he gets through all the other fans so we all sat around waiting.

in the mean time there was this drunk guy chatting to us called gus and he was telling us that he loves carl and he will definately make it big time etc and he kept trying to guess which one of us was Carl's mother and wife hehe.

anyway 12 midnight struck and us girls broke out in song VIC gigs 190203 to which he hid he's head in the present bag and he said that we are lovely and thankyou so much then came the fun part he opened angeo's christmas present MISTLETOE anyway then the kodak moments were starting we all got our kisses including the mum's he loved every minuet of it.

we finished up saying our goodbyes as he's tour manager ryan looked like he wanted to leave and Carl was absolutly buggered also and got our final hugs, kisses and photos and then we left. definatly the best gig of carl's i have ever been to. VIC gigs 464738

OKay, so the show bit, I'll leave to Amanda cos it's al the same.
ANyways, as he was going up to the stage he stopped at Ambercats table to say hi, looked at me and went "JODIE" (Name = accomplished :))

Anyways, we got in the line, got he front, he stood up was like "Heyyyyy give me some love" so I did...Obviously..

We talked about how I'd never been to Melbourne before, and how he reckons I should visit St Kilda etc, how he didnt play New York New York (He sung it to us later hahah), and asked if me and Kel were staying in the same hotel.
My response was "no, I told her to piss off to another hoteL" he was like "she's just waiting to pick up a man," and pulled out his suit jacket. My response was "oh thats how it is is it?" and he was like "Nah...I don't want to wreck OURRRRR relationship". lol.

Um....Yeh....he introduced me to Ryan, even though he only introduced me to Ryan two weeks ago. Hugs and kisses again and went and sat of to wait for everyone.

He trod on my fingers cos they "got in his way" (They were on the table), so I stole his sharpie, which is in my bag Very Happy

I gave him a letter, written on hotel stationery lol, I don't want to say what it said, but it meant I got the bigggggggggest hug ever.

After the hug, he goes "aw thanks for coming. Say hi to your mum for me.....thats a really gay thing to say isn't it? What I meant was, say hi to your mother, from me, Carl"
As we said bye he goes {"See you next year" and I replied with "if your lucky..." (Doesnt everyone love a smart arse...) and he told me he was going to be "very lucky" lol

He told me I looked nice, and that "In that dress" I wouldn't have a problem hailing taxis (i told him I was a pro from working in the SYdney CBD hahaha)

I keep forgetting bits I'm sure.

But best show ever, and he remembers my name now hahahaha.

That goes for me too Monet. It's so lovely to hear what a fantastic time everyone had. I have a big grin on my face too. I knew my Mistletoe gift - with the instructions included - would be a hit. I've been having quiet giggles to myself ever since I had the idea. The pics are hilarious, Carl holding that mistletoe over his head and being kissed by all you girls. I made a little tag attached to the bunch (which also contained strawberry and cream chuppa chups) "Instructions: Hold over head, receive kisses from adoring fans"... or something like that - and he's such a sport I knew he'd go along with it. Good on you Carl hug this one's from me .... Mwwwaaaaahhhhh!!!
It's no wonder we luv him so. Hey and girls .... you all owe me big time! rotfl
What did you mean he hung it over gus's head Amanda?

Looking forward to seeing the videos too, especially Moon River which I asked Amby to request. Thanks for capturing it on video Ambs and mum you dolls. Amanda I think you forgot to ask Carl to blow me a kiss under the mistletoe though. Never mind darl you are so thoughtful saying hellos for all us absentees, and getting Wendy on the phone like that, and I can imagine in the excitement of the moment it's impossible to say everything you want to.

Carl must have been on a high himself with all the buzz and excitement generated by you girls. Definitely it's a night to remember for all of you including our honeyman.

VIC gigs Empty bennetts lane

Post by amanda-renee Sun 14 Jun 2009, 11:05 am

hi all thought i'd pop online i'm at a dodgy internet cafe again but thought i should fill you in on the gigs so far.

first night was awesome we sat and braved the freezing cold out in the alley way for about 1.5hrs and whilst we were there carl and co were doing their soundcheck inside when they came out there was about 7 of us there and he was like whoa you guys are early arn't you. he felt sorry for us all sitting in the cold as he's knees were freezing he informed us later on.

gig was awesome same set list as all the previous shows from this tour but there was a special guest in the audience " john foreman" they got him onstage to help play the piano with john during " all of me" they were great doing all sorts of tricky stuff on the piano including changeing sides from each other on the seat etc.

also Carl's mum is over from NZ which he was also incredibly excited about.

at last nights gig i actually sat next to he's mum with rach right behind me, and it was hellarious as i was screaming as i do , so then carl's mum would scream also, so i'd get louder , so she'd get louder and i was like go mum, we got to chatting and she is so proud of both her boys and thanks all us fans with gratitude ( she said i was lovely hehe ) i took some photo's of her and carl and told her i would send copies to carl along with the dvd to forward on to he's mother.

monty got her dance with carl last night he picked her up in the air and she was squealing like you wouldn't believe she was so happy, carl also danced with he's mum which also another touching part of the show.

wendy didn't cry!!!! and she was so calm and collected during it's all right with me carl also got wendy to do the answer when he was saying oh oh sugar sugar baby baby etc she seemed very excited.

we all got our pics etc at the end and monty played her trumpet for carl and also got a private lesson from ashley lewis hehe she was in her element, not only that but carl also played monty's trumpet which she nearly died from, it was such a great night.

anyway guys i will post more including photo's when i get home but until then take care and i will chat to you all soon.
