QLD gigs
For all the lucky people in QLD Check out the press release o the 4barsrest.com website. Carl is going to be performing at their Gala Concert during the National Championships at Easter. Usually the tickets are around $25 so not too expensive. If you love brass its a great night with a major bonus thrown in Mr Carl Riseley himself.
This was going to be my first year at not attending the national comps now I am going to have to reconsider. There should be more details as they are released thru the http://www.qba.org.au/nationals2008 (The Brisbane Nationals Website)
Thought you would all like to know.
It's a Date
Qld Band Association The Australian National Band Championships Gala concert is set to dazzle Brisbane audiences with first class entertainment assured - and not a brass band in sight.
The details of the Gala concert, to be held in the Main Auditorium of Brisbane City Hall, Friday 21 March 2008, in conjunction with the Australian National Band Championships, have been released by concert producer, Pam Schryver.
Alaska Brass
The Gala concert will feature, the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific "Alaska Brass". Flying in all the way from Alaska the versatile 7 piece brass group will no doubt entertain as only the Americans can do!
Australian Army Band
The Brisbane Australian Army Band are another guest artist - well known in the city for their quality entertainment programs.
Carl Riseley
Following his huge success on last years Australian Idol, Carl Riseley will no doubt attract a huge crowd. Known for his smooth, swing style - both vocally and on trumpet, Carl is no stranger to brass bands having spent his early years playing in Brisbane Excelsior before moving to Sydney to join the Navy band.
Pam Shryver told 4BRDU, "The careful selection of entertainment was designed to keep everybody happy - namely brass and concert players and the general public."
Information for ticket sales will be issued shortly. It is anticipated there will only be a few available for door sales - we genuinely suggest you don’t leave bookings until the last minute.

But anyway, I know you're going Lacey and hopefully Amanda and you too Floss and whoever else goes can come back and tell us all about it with photos etc!!!
Re: QLD gigs
Hahaha... of course I'm going!! If for some reason I can't I might just die (slightly melodramatic but so what?)!! Will report back with looooooooots of pictures and a blow-by-blow account of what happened. This has made my day... what a fantastic (slightly early) birthday present to find out about this!

Re: QLD gigs
I've tried getting tickets but due to the fact I don't have credit card its proving difficult
Re: QLD gigs
Hey guys... I'm on the computers at uni. Meant to be studying. Meant is the key word in that sentence lol.
Just letting you all know that I've got my tickets to see Carl at the Gala. Sent him a myspace message telling him I'd be there and he replied saying it would be great to have me there and he'd let me know what was happening in regards to whether I'd get a chance to meet him or not.
So yeah... only a few days away now!! I'm very excited.
Take care!!

Ooooh. That's exciting Lacey! I'm looking forward to your report  It was such an anticlimax when the S.A. Westfield gig didn't happen. Although it was cool that Ambercat put up photos of her and her mum!
Now get back to study!

Re: QLD gigs
Just came back from Carl's gala concert, it was awesome, Carl is awesome and i had a goosebumps when he sang "This Guy's In Love with You' because that was the song that i suggested to him to sing at idol, i didn't realize he includes it in his coming album, i was and still is very very ecstatic, thank you very much Carl for included that song in your album, you are such an angel, i took lots of photos guys and a video but not very sure yet how to put it here i need my daughters' help but at the moment she's with her cousins house for sleepover, i was a bit disappointed though that i wasn't able to catch up with Carl after the show and to have photos with him but we waited for a while outside but no sign of him, i met Laceyface though, by the way nice meeting you lacey, i left before lacey because my brother in law still has to go to work, and i don't know if lacey was able to meet carl, i hope she does, i asked the staff at city hall but they said Carl might left the building already right after his gig, because after him there's still one more finale song from the Australian Army Band, he might left during the last number, the Alaskan (US Airforce) Brass were awesome as well, but Carl was the best of course....sooooo good to see Carl, and i will put the photos here as soon as i can.

Re: QLD gigs
I'll just add on to Monetgo's post... I stuck around for 20 minutes after the show around the front... he didn't seem to be coming out so Tom and I waited around the side entrance for another 10 minutes. We were about to give up and go home when I saw Carl crossing the road. Ran across the road after him (slightly felt stalkerish) called out his name and him, his dad and rachel all turned around. I introduced myself and he recognised my name from the forums and myspace and he leant over and gave me a hug and a kiss and we chatted for a bit (he's touring in June guys!!!). Carls dads a smoker and asked Tom for a light and I got two very bad pictures (see below). They were taken with Tom's Camera phone at night so they're pretty bad. If someone feels like editing them and making them look decent they would be greatly appreciated!! Said goodbye, got another hug and a kiss...
All in all a wonderful night. Carl's new single is amazingly good. I'll probably update more later. So tired!!
Love you all!! Thanks Carl for a wonderful night!! =)

Re: QLD gigs
Wow monetgo and lacey...
You lucky ducksters!!
So glad you both had an awesome time with our gorgeous Carl. What a lovely guy he is - and he remembered you lacey!! I bet you're not going to wash his kiss from your face any time soon- woohoo!!
Clever girl for asking him about a tour - and it's in June. That's the best news!! Wonder if he'll visit WA? Pics are great lacey - you both look so sweet!!
This Guy's in Love sounded gorgeous on the little vid - loved the slow-simmer tempo - but to hear the whole thing... Didn't realise you'd suggested that song for him on Idol, monetgo. You must've been stoked when he chose it as his single!! Can't wait to see your pics. Hope you're able to get them up and running soon. Can't ever have enough Carl shots!!...
Thanks for the report guys - so exciting!!

Very happy for you guys! As Amanda said, it'd great that more and more people on the forum are also getting their opportunity to either meet Carl or see him perform! I think it is also great that Carl is remembering names from the forum. I was stocked that Carl now knows Amanda and I by name and sight so you must be very excited Lace! Thanks for sharing your pics. I will have a go at editing them for you darl. Can't wait to see your photos too Monetgo.

Re: QLD gigs
love those twp photos after my post!! Such good quality. Do you mind if I ask what type of camera your using?
Re: QLD gigs
Just a simple KodakShare kris, probably it turns alright because we are very near front seats (and if i could only grab Carl, lol) and Carl really can already level with Buble in performance you know, the host keep on saying the next Michael Buble in his entire hosting but then at the last he said enough of me saying "the next Michael Buble", but mind you he has a great voice as well (the host) for he sang at the finale together with the Australian Army Band "We Are Australians".
The venue was good it had that classy feeling and it really suits well with our man, there were few tourists who were watching the show as bunch of Canadians were seating behind us and as well as the governor-general of Brisbane, Carl said he was really looking forward since 7 o'clock to do his gig and very glad to do it here and to be back in his hometown.
